Portslade Old Village conservation area. May 21st at 11am to midday. Farming, brewery, pubs, wealthy residents, convent and a medieval manor house. Join us for 1000 years of history in a one-mile walk. Led by Trevor Povey. Booking essential.
TALKS
The planned German invasion of Portslade. May 24th at 10am .The German high command had their eye on our Gas works and infrastructure. The German 9th Panzer army was tasked with invading our little part of dear old England, including taking over the gas works. Talk includes hands-on holding of war memorabilia, including rifles. Portslade in isolation – history of Foredown hospital and infectious diseases. May 31st at 11am. Ever wondered what Foredown Tower was used for? The history of Foredown Hospital and how it was in the front line of tackling epidemics in the 19th & 20 centuries. Led by Trevor Povey.

Cake baking sessions for kids for 6-11 year olds. Free baking classes for kids at the Easthill Park Community Cafe. Children will have the opportunity to bake and creatively decorate their own cupcakes under the supervision of experienced instructors. Dates: June 28th & July 12th 1pm to 2pm . World of Wheels play experience for toddlers and children who love things that spin. Held in Portslade United Reform Church, Boundary Road, BN41 1AB. Local troupe Biscuit Barrel is bringing its fast-paced sketch show to Komedia for Brighton Fringe this May, before taking the show to Hollywood Fringe weeks later. Francesca is holding an outside Hiit class in Easthill Park, Portslade, on Tuesdays during the good weather (approximately May - September.) Already attended by a small lovely group. Anyone is welcome to join and all you need to bring is hand weights and a mat. The first one will be 20th May (subject to dry weather) and is from 5.30-6.15pm. This class mixture of cardio and strength work using hand weights and/or your own body weight. Beer Festival 2025 at Southwick Community Centre, BN42 4TE on Friday 23rd May to Saturday 24th May 2025.
Once again, there will be a great selection of cask and keg beers, as well as a dedicated Cider Bar. The regular Centre Bar will also be open, for wines, sprits and soft drinks.
The annual festival helps to raise funds for Southwick Community Centre. But mainly it's about welcoming people to an event that is very sociable and enormous fun. Do you Love LEGO®? on both 28th May, South Downs Leisure have invited the BRICK PEOPLE to Ropetackle centre, Shoreham, who’ll be offering a wide range of LEGO® related activities.
Events consist of various LEGO® activity tables, some containing self-building activities such as mosaics and other tables featuring monitored activities such as a timed speed or tower build, where names of the builders are entered onto a leader board for the day for all to see. £5 (+ £1 fees).
